Regional Statistics Specialist

Leads regional implementation of UN Women’s Women Count programme across Latin America and the Caribbean, strengthening gender-statistics production, SDG monitoring and data use through technical assistance, capacity development, partnerships, advocacy, knowledge management and results monitoring.

Department: Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office

• Lead regional planning and implementation of the Women Count programme
• Provide technical and policy support on gender statistics and SDG monitoring
• Develop guidance, methodologies, assessments and data-use plans
• Train country and programme offices and lead a regional community of practice
• Build partnerships with governments, donors, international agencies, civil society and private-sector actors
• Advocate for stronger gender data and mobilize programme resources
• Oversee monitoring plans, targets, indicators and evaluation of regional results
• Codify lessons, use cases and best practices in gender-statistics production and use

• Advanced university degree in statistics, economics or a related field, or a first degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
• At least seven years of progressive experience in statistics
• Experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment
• Computer, office-software, spreadsheet, database and web-based management-system experience
• Fluency in English and Spanish

• Temporary appointment for six months
