Protocol Intern

Supports the UN Resident Coordinator Office in China with protocol coordination and high-level visits. The intern drafts notes verbales, liaises with government and the UN country team, resolves practical protocol matters and provides logistical and substantive assistance for senior United Nations delegations.

Department: Resident Coordinator Office

• Draft notes verbales to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other counterparts
• Support government liaison on practical protocol issues
• Coordinate protocol requests from United Nations country-team entities
• Provide logistical support for incoming high-level delegations
• Prepare substantive materials for senior United Nations visits
• Support reception and scheduling arrangements for visiting officials
• Maintain protocol documentation supporting the Cooperation Framework
• Assist the Partnership and Financing Officer with protocol follow-up

• Current enrolment in or completion of a graduate programme, or current enrolment in or completion of the final academic year of a bachelor’s programme
• Field of study closely related to the internship
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Teams
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese
• Ability to cover travel, visa, accommodation, health insurance and living expenses

• Unpaid full-time internship from 26 August 2026 to 25 February 2027
• Five-day work week from 09:30 to 17:30 China Standard Time
• Interns or sponsoring institutions must cover travel, visa, accommodation and living costs
