Project Assistant (Cultural Mediation)

Provides clerical, language and cultural-mediation support to an IOM project addressing labour exploitation among migrants in Italy. The assistant will facilitate communication during inspections, outreach and information sessions; explain national laws and procedures; support awareness-raising on protection mechanisms; accompany inspection teams; and help project staff overcome linguistic barriers while maintaining impartiality and respect.

• Provide cultural mediation during labour inspections and information sessions
• Support project staff to explain national laws and administrative procedures
• Contribute to awareness-raising on protection mechanisms for labour-exploitation and trafficking victims
• Accompany inspection taskforces and facilitate communication with migrants
• Provide language support during outreach, inspections and meetings
• Perform assigned clerical duties

• High school diploma with three years of relevant professional experience, or bachelor's degree with one year of relevant experience
• Driving licence
• Fluency in Italian
• Mother-tongue Sinhala proficiency
• Valid residence and work permit in Italy

• Experience in clerical or administrative support such as filing, record-keeping or data entry
• Experience in cultural mediation with migrants or vulnerable groups
• Experience supporting community initiatives, international organisations, NGOs or EU agencies
