Job Description

The Programme Assistant will support WFP field operations in Matale, Sri Lanka, coordinating with government, partners and communities to implement food assistance and resilience activities. The role monitors distributions and programme data, supports meetings and partner training, records operational information and prepares mission reports. It also helps strengthen field-level processes, financial reconciliation and emergency preparedness.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with government counterparts and field partners
  • Support implementation and monitoring of WFP field projects
  • Verify field movements and distributions of food and non-food items
  • Collect and analyse programme data for reviews and decisions
  • Organise field meetings and partner training
  • Record field-level operational data to corporate standards
  • Prepare field mission reports and support emergency response

Role Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school education
  • Fluency in the UN language used at the duty station and the duty-station language where different
  • National applicants only

Desired Criteria

  • Post-secondary certificate in a related functional area
  • University degree in a related field
  • Experience in field coordination and programme implementation
