The analyst strengthens UNDP Kenya’s funding base by developing partnership and resource-mobilization strategy, analysing donor and policy opportunities, building government, financial, civil-society and private-sector alliances, and preparing proposals, financing models and donor intelligence.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the country-office partnerships and resource-mobilization strategy
  • Analyse donor priorities, policy developments and emerging funding sources
  • Build alliances with government, financial institutions, donors, civil society and private-sector partners
  • Deliver resource-mobilization and government cost-sharing targets
  • Develop proposals, concept notes, pitches and alternative financing models
  • Prepare donor briefs, conduct partner due diligence and negotiate agreements
  • Codify financing knowledge and communicate results to support project scaling

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in social policy, public policy, politics, economics, business administration, development studies or a related field, or bachelor’s degree with two additional years of experience
  • At least two years of relevant experience with a master’s degree, or four years with a bachelor’s degree, focused on partnership building, business development and resource mobilization
  • Experience using computers, office software, spreadsheet and database packages and web-based management systems
  • Knowledge and experience in partnership building, business development and resource mobilization
  • Fluency in English and Swahili

Desired Criteria

  • United Nations system experience
  • Experience collaborating with United Nations agencies, governments, NGOs, civil society and international organizations
  • Knowledge of capacity-building theory and assessment methods
  • Experience coordinating with government agencies or donors
