Overview
Leads infection prevention and control across high-risk Ebola response activities, strengthening protocols, monitoring, training and occupational health measures. The officer supports Red Cross teams in Beni and Bunia to reduce transmission risks and improve operational biosecurity.

Responsibilities
- Lead infection prevention and control measures across safe burials, ambulance services, patient transport, health facilities and decontamination activities
- Develop and update policies, procedures, protocols, checklists and guidance aligned with Ministry of Health and WHO standards
- Conduct risk assessments, audits and supportive supervision across operational sites and implement corrective actions
- Establish occupational-health systems for staff and volunteers, including screening, referrals, exposure management and return-to-work procedures
- Train and mentor staff, volunteers and health workers on infection prevention and control
- Monitor personal protective equipment, disinfectants and related supplies and advise on procurement and stock management
- Represent IFRC and the national society in technical coordination mechanisms and contribute to preparedness and reporting
Requirements
- Degree or training in tropical medicine, infectious-disease control or humanitarian aid, together with a medical or other health-related degree
- At least three years of healthcare experience
- Previous infection prevention and control experience
- Experience working in resource-limited hospital settings
- Fluent spoken and written English and French
- Ability and willingness to follow strict infection prevention and control protocols
