Job Description

Leads a gender baseline study and supports development of Ghana’s Cocoa Gender Policy for FAO and COCOBOD. The specialist designs research tools, conducts fieldwork, analyses gender disparities across the cocoa value chain, facilitates validation and converts evidence into policy recommendations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review policies, legislation, research and datasets on gender and Ghana's cocoa sector
  • Develop the inception report, sampling framework, workplan and data-collection tools
  • Design gender-sensitive quantitative and qualitative research instruments
  • Conduct field data collection across selected cocoa-growing regions
  • Analyse gender disparities throughout the cocoa value chain
  • Prepare the gender baseline study report and evidence-based recommendations
  • Review, align and revise the national Cocoa Gender Policy
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultations and policy-validation workshops

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in gender studies, development studies, agricultural economics, rural development, sociology, public policy or a related field
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in gender analysis, policy development, social research or agricultural development
  • Demonstrated experience conducting gender assessments and baseline studies
  • Experience supporting policy formulation and validation processes
  • Working knowledge of English
  • Ghanaian nationality

Desired Criteria

  • Familiarity with Ghana's cocoa sector and agricultural policies
  • Knowledge of SPSS, Stata, R or equivalent statistical software
  • Prior experience with FAO, another United Nations agency or Ghanaian government institutions
