Overview

UN-Habitat seeks an expert in Bossaso to strengthen community participation and municipal coordination in Somalia's Saameynta programme. The consultant will facilitate planning, support land-tenure and housing activities, coordinate displaced and host communities, track results and document implementation with local partners.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate inclusive community participation in durable-solutions planning and implementation
  • Coordinate consultations, awareness campaigns and municipal planning sessions
  • Maintain relationships with municipal departments, community leaders and programme partners
  • Support Social Tenure Domain Model, tenure regularisation and settlement-mapping activities
  • Track land-dispute mechanisms and tenure documents for displaced and host communities
  • Coordinate community input to housing assessments and settlement plans
  • Prepare consultation records, progress updates, success stories and technical documentation

Requirements

  • First university degree in social development, community engagement or a related field
  • At least two years of relevant experience working with public-sector institutions and community engagement
  • Experience supporting project implementation with government institutions and other stakeholders
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Somali
