Job Description
The International Seabed Authority seeks a Kingston-based Knowledge Management Officer for its Office of Legal Affairs. The role preserves and makes legal records accessible; develops law-library taxonomies, metadata and digital archives; leads legal research and retrieval; establishes records procedures; and trains staff and partners on legal research methods and digital library platforms.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Manage acquisition, organization and digital archiving of legal materials and specialized law databases
- Develop legal terminology, taxonomies and indexing systems for documentation including UNCLOS and the 1994 Agreement
- Maintain metadata schemes and common formats for capturing, storing, searching and retrieving legal content
- Develop a legal knowledge-management plan and procedures for internal electronic records and legal outputs
- Research and synthesize international instruments, legislation, case law, Assembly and Council decisions and doctrine
- Train staff and stakeholders on legal research methods and Law Library digital platforms
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in law, library and information studies, library science or a related field, with a first-level degree plus two additional qualifying years accepted in lieu
- At least five years of progressive professional experience in knowledge or information management, modern library services, digital records management, complex legal research or a comparable setting
- English proficiency at UN Level III
- Only nationals of ISA Member States are eligible for consideration
Desired Criteria
- Experience in legal or policy research in an international organization, government legal department, law firm, legal office, law library or comparable multilateral setting
- Experience supporting intergovernmental or multilateral processes
- Experience managing metadata, taxonomies and classification schemes for legal materials
- Proficiency in digital library, knowledge management, collaborative or digital-records preservation systems
- Experience developing content-management standards, procedures and guidelines
