Job Description

Creates a roster for WIPO internship opportunities across legal, economic, technology, administration, intellectual-property, translation and communications functions, enabling students and recent graduates to gain international professional experience.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support the assigned WIPO office under internship-specific terms of reference
  • Contribute current academic knowledge and research perspectives to assigned work
  • Participate in professional activities within an international intellectual-property organisation
  • Use Microsoft Office applications and adapt to new systems required by the host office
  • Complete assigned work on a full-time basis for the agreed internship period

Role Requirements

  • Current university study or a university degree completed within the applicable WIPO eligibility period
  • First-degree students must be in their third or fourth year or completing a programme that requires an internship
  • Graduates must apply no more than two years after completing their most recent university degree or postgraduate studies
  • Working knowledge of English or French
  • Full-time availability for the internship

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish is an advantage

Additional Information

  • Roster for internship opportunities arising in the second half of 2026 and first half of 2027; placement is not guaranteed
  • Internships last from eight weeks to twelve months depending on category and assignment
  • Geneva-based Category I interns receive CHF 1,645 per month and Category II interns receive CHF 2,170 per month, including local transport allowance
  • Internships cannot be carried out remotely
  • Interns normally cover travel, visa, accommodation and subsistence costs, subject to limited travel reimbursement eligibility
  • A cover letter or motivation letter is required
