Job Description
UNODC seeks a Search and Rescue Expert in Beirut to support maritime-security activities in Lebanon. Working with authorities, the consultant will assess coordination arrangements, strengthen the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, deliver capacity-building for maritime law enforcement, and prepare technical notes and recommendations that improve search-and-rescue coordination and readiness.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Assess search-and-rescue coordination arrangements and Joint Rescue Coordination Centre needs
- Produce a coordination support plan for national maritime authorities
- Design and deliver trainings, workshops and exercises for maritime law enforcement
- Prepare training materials and reports for each capacity-building activity
- Compile technical notes, briefs and recommendations for donor reporting
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in law, criminology, maritime studies or related field
- At least 7 years of experience in maritime operations, coast guard, navy or search and rescue coordination
- Experience with government counterparts, international organizations or donor-funded projects
- Excellent report-writing skills
- Fluency in English
Desired Criteria
- Ability to work independently and in a small team
- Experience delivering training and mentoring
- Knowledge of Arabic or French
