Job Description
UNOCT seeks an unpaid Political Affairs intern for Policy, Knowledge Management Branch in New York. Reporting to Knowledge Management, the intern drafts policy background documents and reports, summarizes meetings, researches counter-terrorism and violent-extremism issues, analyzes information, maintains databases, reviews publications and tracks developments during a six-month assignment.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Draft policy background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points and knowledge products
- Attend and summarize conferences and meetings
- Gather and analyze information from communications, publications and press sources
- Conduct research and analysis on counter-terrorism and violent-extremism policy matters
- Develop and maintain databases and review key reports and publications
Role Requirements
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree
- Field of study closely related to the internship
- Fluency in spoken and written English
Desired Criteria
- Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage
- Training, education, advanced coursework or skills should benefit the United Nations
