Information Technology Assistant

Support UNON's Infrastructure Management Section in Nairobi by administering local, wireless and wide-area networks; strengthening network security through vulnerability assessments and monitoring; automating repeatable tasks with Python and Ansible; and researching, testing and documenting technologies that improve reliable, secure data services across the organization.

• Administer local, wireless and wide-area networks
• Plan and implement network projects under UN policies and standards
• Maintain network backup, security policies and access-control lists
• Create Python and Ansible scripts to automate network tasks
• Perform vulnerability assessments and analyse IDS alerts
• Research, test and recommend hardware, software and communications technologies

• Completion of secondary education or high school diploma
• CCNP Routing and Switching and Devnet certifications
• At least seven years of relevant IT experience in routing and switching, Python scripting, network automation, troubleshooting, wireless and network security
• Strong technical skills in network design, implementation, troubleshooting and management
• Familiarity with Cisco, Checkpoint, Fortinet and Ruckus network equipment

• Technical training or certifications in routing and switching, intrusion detection systems, network programmability, automation, network security or wireless
• One year or more of experience in data analytics or a related area
