Head of English Language Department

Leads INTERPOL’s English Language Department, managing staff, budgets, outsourcing and quality across editing, revision, translation and terminology work while directing recruitment and performance, supporting statutory meetings and governing adoption of CAT, machine-translation and AI tools.

Department: Global Language Services

• Lead the English Language Department and plan revision, editing, translation and minute-taking work
• Manage staffing, productivity, budget inputs, expenses and staff performance
• Oversee external language providers and the full tendering process
• Direct terminology management and quality consistency across language versions
• Revise English originals and translations and prepare statutory-meeting records when required
• Define governance and deployment of CAT, machine-translation and AI language tools
• Recruit, onboard, coach and train permanent and temporary language staff

• Master’s degree in languages, translation, translation technologies or a relevant discipline, with advanced management and translation experience
• At least eight years of combined translation, editing, revision and minute-taking experience
• Demonstrable leadership and team-management experience
• Advanced experience with language technologies and tools
• Mother-tongue command of English
• Excellent knowledge of two languages among Arabic, French and Spanish

• Fixed-term appointment for 36 months
• The selection may generate a reserve list, but this is a position-specific vacancy
• Occasional on-call work outside normal hours is required
