Economic Security in Detention Adviser

Leads ICRC technical guidance and support on economic security, food systems and nutrition for people deprived of liberty. The Geneva-based adviser will set global approaches, assist delegations, develop tools and training, coordinate detention and EcoSec specialists, and represent the organisation with authorities and humanitarian partners to improve detention programmes and protection outcomes.

• Lead global strategies, processes and protocols for EcoSec interventions in detention
• Develop and update institutional guidance, frameworks and specialised toolboxes
• Support delegations with assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of detention programmes
• Coordinate multidisciplinary assessments and detention strategies with EcoSec and partner units
• Represent the ICRC with authorities and external networks on detention-related nutrition issues
• Coach regional and delegation staff and deliver nutrition programme workshops and training modules

• Master’s degree in nutrition, public health, global or international health, or another relevant field
• Overall 12–15 years of professional experience and at least 7 years of international humanitarian experience
• Experience in detention settings or engaging penitentiary authorities in complex environments
• Experience in nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific programming
• Verbal and written fluency in French and English

• Familiarity with detention-specific protection and ICRC Economic Security approaches
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation or surveillance systems
• Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement experience
• Experience engaging technical authorities, academia or external stakeholders
