Job Description

Conducts a remote desk-research assignment on child safeguarding in Cameroonian football academies, drawing on African and international evidence where useful. The volunteer examines reported abuse and exploitation, assesses existing protection practice and legal frameworks, identifies gaps and produces a well-sourced brief to inform CAMAAY's potential child-protection and awareness work.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Gather and review reports, news coverage, academic articles, and NGO and government sources
  • Document reported abuse, exploitation and trafficking in youth football settings
  • Map existing or missing academy child-protection measures, including reporting channels, transport, staff vetting and victim support
  • Summarize national laws and international frameworks on children's rights and safeguarding in sport
  • Identify gaps between expected protections and current practice
  • Produce a clear, well-sourced research brief
  • Provide a brief weekly written status update and respond to messages within about two days

Role Requirements

  • Confidence finding, assessing and summarizing reports, news and academic sources
  • Clear written English and organized note-taking
  • Discretion and sensitivity with a difficult subject
  • English is required

Desired Criteria

  • Background in social sciences, human rights, child protection, law or sports management is an asset

  • Work is entirely remote with no fieldwork and can be completed on the volunteer's schedule
