Child Protection in Emergencies Officer

Provides field-based technical and operational support to UNICEF Papua New Guinea’s Child Protection in Emergencies drought response. The National UN Volunteer leads assessments and monitoring, strengthens safe referrals and builds the capacity of provincial and district child-protection actors across priority provinces, helping safeguard children affected by food insecurity in El Niño emergency.

• Lead child-protection drought assessments in priority provinces
• Support enumerators and focal points and verify findings during field missions
• Analyse assessment returns and prepare provincial protection summaries
• Maintain monthly monitoring of risks, referrals and service continuity
• Co-facilitate CPiE training on safe referral, psychological first aid and PSEA
• Strengthen service mapping, referral pathways and confidential handovers
• Monitor Child-Friendly Spaces and support CPiE information distribution
• Support Child Protection Sub-Sector coordination, partner mapping and gap analysis

• Bachelor degree in a relevant child-protection or social-science field
• At least 3 years of professional experience in child protection, humanitarian response, social services or social development
• English and Tok Pisin
• Excellent oral and written drafting and reporting skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and email or internet

• Experience in child protection in emergencies, case management, psychosocial support, GBV programming, PSEA or needs assessments
• Familiarity with the Lukautim Pikinini Act, CPCM SOP or PNG Child-Friendly Space Toolkit
• Experience with gender-based-violence programmes or international development organizations
