Job Description
UNICEF South Africa seeks a Child Health Specialist to manage and strengthen the Child Health Programme in Pretoria. The specialist will guide planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting; provide technical leadership on immunisation, epidemic response and HIV prevention; and help build integrated, resilient health systems that improve outcomes for mothers, newborns and children.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Support development and preparation of the Child Health Programme
- Manage implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of programme progress
- Provide technical guidance and management support throughout programming processes
- Lead work on immunisation, health emergency preparedness, epidemic control and prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV
- Strengthen integrated and resilient health systems to reduce child mortality and morbidity
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in public health, nutrition and dietetics, environmental health, epidemiology, pediatrics, global health, health policy, health management, biostatistics, health education or a related field
- At least five years of relevant experience in health, child health, immunization, HIV prevention, health systems strengthening, emergency preparedness or programme management
- Fluency in English
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation of immunisation programmes, health-systems strengthening and programme management
Desired Criteria
- Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language
- Experience supporting EPI, MNCH, PMTCT and outbreak response
- Country-level experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
