Associate Human Rights Officer

Monitor and analyse human rights conditions in Syria, support accountability and early warning, advise national counterparts on laws and institutions, strengthen human rights systems and capacity, and contribute evidence and policy analysis to transitional justice processes.

• Monitor international human rights and humanitarian law implementation
• Document and analyse evidence across civil, political, economic and social rights
• Draft human rights reports, briefings, legal analyses and policy papers
• Verify multi-source information using compliant and gender-responsive methods
• Review draft legislation, policies and security-sector reforms
• Strengthen complaints, victim-support and human rights mechanisms with counterparts
• Design and deliver human rights capacity-building activities
• Support transitional justice through analysis, coordination and background materials

• Advanced university degree in human rights, law, political science, international relations, social sciences, economics, public policy, sustainable development, humanitarian affairs or a related field, or first-level degree with two additional years of experience
• At least two years of progressively responsible experience in human rights or a related field
• Knowledge of human rights monitoring, documentation, analysis, research and reporting methodologies
• English and Arabic at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening and speaking
• Syrian nationality

• Ability to communicate complex technical matters to diverse audiences
• Ability to integrate human rights, leave-no-one-behind and gender-equality approaches across the work
