Overview
Leads UNSOH’s Human Rights Due Diligence Unit and coordinates policy implementation for UN support to non-UN security forces. The chief advises mission leadership, conducts risk assessments, engages authorities, shapes policy and programmes, and manages the unit’s staff, budget and workplan.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate implementation of the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy and related risk assessments
- Advise the Head of UNSOH and represent the office on human-rights due-diligence matters
- Negotiate human-rights concerns with relevant parties and propose policy directives
- Design and implement policy and programme changes, including gender dimensions
- Develop relations with senior government officials and security counterparts
- Lead human-rights research and manage the unit’s staff, budget and work programme
Requirements
- Advanced degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field; a first-level degree with two additional years may be accepted
- At least ten years of progressively responsible relevant experience
- At least five years implementing the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy and advising senior mission leadership
- At least five years engaging government and security services on human-rights protection in heightened violence
- English and French at UN Level III
- Existing placement on a relevant pre-approved UN roster
