Human Rights Officer

Leads human-rights due-diligence monitoring for UNSOH in Haiti, coordinating investigations, evidence management, reporting, policy advice and mitigation measures for support to non-UN security forces while deputising for the unit lead and supervising junior personnel.

Department: Human Rights Due Diligence Unit

• Lead monitoring of human rights and international humanitarian law compliance
• Coordinate collection and quality control of evidence-based human-rights information
• Develop recommendations and mitigation strategies under the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy
• Lead investigations into alleged human-rights and humanitarian-law violations
• Advise authorities and UN partners on protection and accountability
• Design and deliver human-rights training and capacity-building programmes
• Coordinate unit planning and supervise junior staff

• Advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field, or a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
• Minimum seven years of progressively responsible human-rights or related experience
• Minimum five years of human-rights monitoring and reporting experience
• Experience in human-rights advocacy, capacity-building programme management or human-rights investigations
• Minimum three years in a UN field operation working directly with the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy
• Required UN Level III proficiency in English and French
