Job Description

Supports BINUH’s electoral work by monitoring political developments, advising Haitian electoral authorities, preparing briefings and reports, and implementing training, voter education, legal, operational, security, technology and registration activities for credible elections.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Monitor political and electoral trends and brief senior management on emerging issues
  • Prepare briefing notes, talking points and reports on electoral and political developments
  • Advise Haitian electoral authorities and support their institutional capacity
  • Assist with legal drafting and electoral-dispute resolution
  • Implement electoral training, capacity-building and voter-education programmes
  • Support electoral legal frameworks, operations, logistics, security and technology
  • Assist electoral authorities with voter-registration planning and implementation
  • Address policy guidance, logistical requirements and other electoral needs

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in political science, international relations, law, public administration or a related field, or a first-level degree with qualifying experience
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in electoral affairs, political affairs, legal affairs, public administration or a related area
  • Haitian nationality
  • French proficiency at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • Haitian Creole proficiency at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening and speaking

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of Haiti's electoral administration and systems
  • Previous professional experience with the Provisional Electoral Council
