Job Description
Supports the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Uganda with communications that engage target audiences and advance UN priorities. The officer tracks media narratives and communication performance, develops content and campaigns, coordinates media and stakeholder outreach, and applies data, digital tools and reporting to strengthen strategic communications across UN activities.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Analyse traditional, social and digital media narratives and reputational risks
- Implement communication strategies that build audience awareness and support
- Draft UN messaging and communications products for diverse platforms
- Build relationships with media outlets and support media engagement
- Plan press briefings, events and outreach activities
- Produce campaign content for UN and community channels
- Coordinate strategic communications partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Collect and analyse data to report communication performance and trends
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in communication, journalism, international relations, digital communications or a related field
- A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree
- At least two years of progressively responsible experience developing and implementing communications strategies
- Demonstrated knowledge of strategic communications principles and practices
- English at UN Level II
- Be a national of Uganda
Desired Criteria
- Data analytics, business analytics or data science programmes are an advantage
- Creative-content development, emerging digital-media knowledge and research skills are desirable
- Ability to draft and tailor clear messages for diverse audiences is desirable
- Data-analytics experience is desirable

Additional Information
- Fixed-term appointment for one year without expectation of renewal, subject to post or funding availability and mandate extension
- Nationals of Uganda residing elsewhere may be considered if no suitable local candidate is identified
