Job Description

Develops strategic communications for the UN Resident Coordinator Office by monitoring media narratives, drafting messages and public-facing products, engaging media and partners, and coordinating campaigns, outreach and events. The role strengthens digital, social-media and website content while tracking the reach and effectiveness of communications activities.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Monitor traditional, social and digital media for narratives and reputational risks
  • Implement communications strategies for target audiences
  • Draft narratives and messaging across channels and platforms
  • Build relationships with traditional and new media outlets
  • Plan press conferences, briefings and media events
  • Produce press releases, web stories, reports and infographics
  • Develop digital and social-media content for communications campaigns
  • Monitor communications and social-media analytics to assess performance

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in communication, journalism, international relations, digital communications or a related field, or a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience developing and implementing communications strategies
  • Experience managing websites and social-media platforms, including content production
  • Media-relations experience and knowledge of the Gambian media landscape
  • English is required
  • Open to nationals of Gambia
