Builds a pre-assessed UNICEF talent pool for temporary WASH Specialist appointments across Nigeria, supporting evidence-based programme design, implementation, monitoring and humanitarian response while strengthening government systems, partnerships and sector capacity.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and plan WASH programme strategies, results frameworks and workplans
  • Manage implementation, monitoring and delivery of WASH programme results
  • Provide technical and operational guidance to country programme teams
  • Support humanitarian WASH preparedness, response, recovery and coordination
  • Build partnerships with government, implementing partners and external agencies
  • Strengthen WASH knowledge management, innovation and capacity development
  • Develop donor proposals and strategic programme documentation
  • Use monitoring evidence and bottleneck analysis to improve programme decisions

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in public health, social sciences, behaviour change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field
  • Minimum five years of professional experience in WASH programmes
  • At least one year of deployment experience in a developing country
  • At least one three-month humanitarian deployment with the UN, government or an international NGO
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Relevant postgraduate courses
  • Experience in programme design, theory of change, results-based planning, monitoring and evaluation, donor proposals and programme management
  • Country-level experience in development, fragile or humanitarian settings
  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language
