Job Description

UNICEF Colombia seeks a UN Volunteer early-childhood-education expert to strengthen learning and childhood development in emergencies in Buenaventura and Pacific municipalities. The assignment provides technical assistance, coordinates education and humanitarian actors, monitors implementation and risks, and produces evidence-based analysis and reporting to improve services for young children.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide field technical assistance to implementing partners, local authorities, educators and communities for early-childhood education and development in emergencies
  • Promote sectoral, intersectoral and interagency coordination to make young children’s needs visible in humanitarian response
  • Monitor early-childhood education projects, targets and indicators, analyse territorial information and propose timely adjustments
  • Support planning and needs analysis for programme decision-making and integrate protection, gender, inclusion and accountability approaches
  • Prepare technical documents, context analyses, reports, change stories and infographics based on territorial evidence

Role Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience designing, implementing, coordinating, monitoring or technically supporting early-childhood education, development or comprehensive childhood-care programmes
  • Experience supporting ICBF modalities, educational institutions, educators, teachers, families and communities in emergency-affected settings
  • Knowledge of education-continuity protocols, early-childhood pedagogical strategies and comprehensive-care services
  • Ability to work in complex security contexts and coordinate with multiple actors
  • Spanish

Desired Criteria

  • Training in education in emergencies, comprehensive early-childhood care, inclusion, differential approaches, child protection or social-project management
  • Previous experience in humanitarian, territorial or high-vulnerability settings
