Senior Legal Officer

Provides authoritative legal and policy advice to CTED on countering terrorism financing and State implementation of Security Council resolutions. The officer leads legal specialists, assesses compliance and capacity needs, develops guidance and benchmarks, coordinates assistance with international partners, and represents CTED in senior regional and multilateral engagements.

• Provide authoritative legal advice on counter-terrorism financing
• Analyse State implementation of Security Council resolutions
• Prepare and review reports and technical solutions for compliance issues
• Lead and supervise legal and counter-terrorism financing officers
• Develop guidance, assessment methodology and benchmark criteria
• Coordinate technical assistance with States and international organisations
• Prepare and participate in Member State assessment visits
• Represent CTED in international and regional events

• Advanced university degree in Law or a related field
• At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in international law, criminal justice, law enforcement, prosecutorial or international legal cooperation
• Experience supervising or leading legal or technical specialists
• Experience in counter-terrorism and countering the financing of terrorism
• Fluency in English

• Experience in multi-stakeholder coordination in an international environment
• Experience in research, emerging technologies and data analysis
• Knowledge of Financial Action Task Force Recommendations
