Overview

Lead UNFPA's Burundi country programme, positioning population, sexual and reproductive health, gender and youth priorities in national and United Nations agendas. Responsibilities

  • Set strategic direction for the country programme and position UNFPA priorities in national development agendas
  • Lead policy dialogue and advocacy on population, sexual and reproductive health, gender and humanitarian issues
  • Build alliances with government, United Nations, donor, civil-society, academic and private-sector partners
  • Represent UNFPA in country and humanitarian teams and wider inter-agency planning mechanisms
  • Direct programme delivery, results-based management, quality assurance and compliance
  • Mobilise resources and manage donor relationships, budgets and country-office assets
  • Lead international and national staff, performance management, organisational learning and duty of care

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in public health, medicine, sociology, demography, gender, international relations, development, economics, public administration, management or a related field
  • Ten years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public administration and international development
  • International experience in population and development, sexual and reproductive health or humanitarian programming
  • Experience in advocacy, policy dialogue and high-level representation
  • Proven ability to lead teams and achieve high-quality results
  • Field experience
  • Fluency in English and French
