Overview

Leads delivery of UNDP Kazakhstan’s water, natural resources and environmental portfolio, coordinating projects, budgets, monitoring, risk, partnerships and knowledge work to strengthen climate resilience, sustainable resource management and investment aligned with national priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects and the Energy and Environment thematic portfolio in line with UNDP procedures
  • Develop work plans, budgets and revisions and oversee financial performance
  • Monitor results, risks, safeguards and timelines and report corrective action to project boards
  • Prepare donor and project reports and coordinate reviews, evaluations and field monitoring
  • Build partnerships with government, donors, financial institutions, academia, civil society and the private sector
  • Mobilise funding and develop pipeline initiatives for environmental programmes
  • Advise national counterparts and organise capacity-building, workshops and knowledge exchange
  • Capture lessons and promote advocacy on natural resources, water security and environmental priorities

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Geology, Mining, Metallurgy, Economics, Social Sciences or a related field, or a relevant bachelor’s degree with two additional years of experience
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience with a master’s degree or four years with a bachelor’s degree in management advisory services or the design, monitoring, evaluation and leadership of development projects
  • Knowledge and experience in water resources, natural resources, critical materials, mining, metallurgy, climate change, biodiversity, circular economy or sustainable industrial development
  • Experience using computers, office software, web-based management systems, spreadsheets and databases
  • Fluency in English
  • Fluency in Russian or Kazakh
