Job Description
Coordinates UNDP’s water, natural-resources and environmental project portfolio in Kazakhstan, providing day-to-day management, technical guidance, risk and financial oversight. The role builds partnerships, mobilises resources and strengthens national capacity for climate resilience and sustainable development.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Manage designated projects and the Energy and Environment thematic portfolio
- Coordinate delivery, budgets, workplans, project boards and closure processes
- Provide technical guidance on water, natural resources and environmental priorities
- Monitor results, risks, timelines, finances and donor reporting
- Manage evaluations, field visits and cross-cutting safeguards plans
- Build partnerships, mobilise resources and maintain stakeholder engagement
- Develop national capacity, knowledge products and advocacy initiatives
- Use Quantum and digital tools for project data, monitoring and reporting
Role Requirements
- Master’s degree with two years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree with four years
- Relevant experience providing management advisory services or designing, monitoring, evaluating and managing development projects
- Experience using computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, web-based management systems and advanced spreadsheet and database packages
- Knowledge and experience in a relevant environmental thematic area
- Fluency in English and in Russian or Kazakh
Desired Criteria
- Experience working with ministries or national institutions
- Experience implementing development projects within the United Nations system
- Experience in water resources, natural resources, critical materials, mining, metallurgy, circular economy, climate change or environmental governance
