Job Description
The Programme Intern helps UNHCR’s Programme Unit in Algiers to monitor activities and partner arrangements for refugee and asylum-seeker protection and assistance. The full-time internship tracks plans and indicators, reviews reports and proposals, updates monitoring tools and records, supports reporting and meetings, conducts desk research, and provides programme coordination support.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Monitor programme activities and track progress against established plans and indicators
- Review and consolidate implementing-partner reports, project proposals and related documentation
- Maintain and update programme monitoring tools, databases and filing systems in line with UNHCR standards
- Prepare internal and external reports, briefing notes and planning, monitoring and reporting documentation
- Support meetings, workshops and capacity-building activities through minutes and follow-up actions
- Conduct desk research and compile information for programme design, implementation and reporting
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the Programme Unit for effective coordination and communication
Role Requirements
- Current undergraduate or graduate student at an IAU/UNESCO-accredited university or higher-education facility, or a recent graduate who completed studies within 2 years of applying
- Completed at least 2 years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to UNHCR work
- Must not have exhausted the maximum cumulative UNHCR internship period, including prior internships
- A parent, child or sibling relationship, including step-relations, to a current UNHCR staff member or affiliate makes a candidate ineligible
- Selected candidate must provide health insurance for the assigned location and a medical certificate of fitness for work and travel
Desired Criteria
- Excellent oral and written drafting and communication skills in French and English
- Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a multicultural team
- Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks within deadlines

- Full-time onsite internship, Sunday to Thursday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
