National Associate Civil Affairs Officer

Supports MONUSCO’s civilian-protection early-warning systems in the DRC. The volunteer manages community-alert and geospatial information, analyzes protection incidents, maps conflict hotspots, trains focal points, advises on database improvements, and facilitates dialogue between communities.

Department: Civil Affairs Section

• Manage the Community Alert Network and contribute to the SAGE database
• Analyze protection incidents and prepare weekly and monthly reports
• Monitor geospatial systems and recommend database improvements
• Maintain early-warning tools and identify conflict hotspots
• Train community-alert focal points on reporting systems
• Facilitate structured dialogue between conflicting communities

• Degree or solid experience in international law, political science, social science, sociology or a related field
• Formal training in basic statistical analysis
• English and French proficiency
• Ability to live and work in difficult and harsh field conditions

• National UN Volunteer assignment
• Most MONUSCO duty stations are non-family and operate under difficult security conditions
