Overview

Strengthens community organisations participating in Colombia’s drug-policy and peacebuilding initiatives through participatory methods, technical accompaniment and territorial analysis, helping communities formulate, implement, monitor and sustain locally owned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Accompany civil-society organisations and territorial leaders through project formulation, implementation and monitoring
  • Assess organisational, community, methodological and participation needs affecting project sustainability
  • Design participatory, pedagogical and methodological tools for community training and initiative development
  • Facilitate dialogue, consultation and collective work among communities, public bodies and technical partners
  • Strengthen community capacity to manage initiatives supporting lawful economies, peace and social cohesion
  • Integrate human-rights, peacebuilding, territorial, differential and do-no-harm approaches
  • Identify participation barriers, community conflicts and territorial risks and propose mitigation routes
  • Produce methodological guides, monitoring matrices, technical reports and documented lessons for project decisions

Requirements

  • At least eight years of professional experience in community work, organisational processes, peace education, civic participation, participatory methods, territorial advocacy, social-project management or peacebuilding
  • Experience designing and implementing participatory methods, popular education, civic training or community learning
  • Experience formulating, managing, monitoring or following up social and community projects
  • Command of office tools and community-monitoring information
  • Fluency in Spanish

  • National UN Volunteer assignment with an indicated duration of 92 days
  • Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance is COP 8,515,500
  • Regular missions are expected to municipalities in several Colombian departments
  • The volunteer is responsible for arranging housing in Bogotá
  • Extension is subject to funding, operational need and satisfactory performance, but renewal is not currently foreseen
