Job Description

ACT Alliance seeks online volunteers to map Member State positions across United Nations processes. Volunteers will research statements, voting records, resolutions and negotiations; identify groupings, sponsors and influential states; maintain a shared database; and produce reports that strengthen advocacy, coalition building and government engagement on climate, gender, migration and peace.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Research United Nations intergovernmental processes and negotiations
  • Track official statements, voting records and public positions
  • Map sponsors, facilitators, penholders and political groupings in resolutions
  • Identify Member States leading progressive or opposing positions
  • Capture information in an agreed database
  • Produce analytical narrative reports when requested

Role Requirements

  • Experience in multilateral affairs, United Nations policy processes, diplomacy, political analysis or advocacy
  • Knowledge of United Nations General Assembly and ECOSOC processes
  • Understanding of Member State dynamics and negotiation practices
  • English

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of French or Spanish
  • Familiarity with humanitarian, development, climate, peacebuilding or human-rights issues
