Innovative Financing Assessment

Assesses innovative financing opportunities across the United Nations system, comparing private-sector engagement, philanthropy, data monetisation, cryptocurrencies and other mechanisms to identify scale potential, risks, enabling conditions and priorities for inter-agency action.

Department: CEB Secretariat

• Review literature, data and innovative financing practices within and beyond the United Nations system
• Assess the opportunity size, maturity and scalability of selected financing mechanisms
• Compare potential returns with costs and risks at a strategic level
• Evaluate legal, governance, fiduciary and reputational conditions and constraints
• Identify success factors affecting cost-effectiveness and sustainability across different institutional models
• Recommend areas where inter-agency coordination can accelerate adoption or reduce barriers
• Produce a system-wide assessment to guide senior-level follow-up and working groups

• Advanced university degree in Communications, Journalism, Humanities, Social Sciences, International Relations or a related field, or a relevant first university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
• Minimum ten years of progressively responsible experience in innovative financing, resource mobilisation, fundraising strategy, philanthropy, private-sector partnerships or a related field
• Demonstrated experience conducting high-level strategic assessments, policy reviews or advisory assignments for international, multilateral or non-governmental organisations
• Proven knowledge of innovative financing mechanisms and their opportunities, risks, governance, fiduciary and reputational considerations
• Fluency in spoken and written English
