Infectious Hazard Management (IHM) Officer

Lead national infectious-hazard management support for WHO in Burkina Faso, advising on epidemic prevention plans, surveillance, risk assessment and rapid response. The officer coordinates partners, strengthens health information and risk communication, and provides technical guidance on outbreak-control measures.

• Advise on national strategies and plans for epidemic-prone disease prevention and control
• Monitor early detection, verification, assessment and investigation of outbreak risks
• Adapt and implement infectious-hazard policies, tools and control approaches
• Prepare periodic reports and strengthen integration with national health information systems
• Support rapid-response investigations, field risk assessments and early response
• Ensure risk-communication messages are technically sound and culturally appropriate
• Recommend measures to reduce excess morbidity and mortality
• Provide technical assistance on vaccination, surveillance, infection control, water, sanitation and vector control

• First university degree in medicine, public health or a related field
• At least five years of national professional experience in infectious-disease prevention and control
• Experience with inter-agency health-emergency preparedness and response mechanisms
• Expert knowledge of French
• Nationality of Burkina Faso
