Lead national infectious-hazard management support for WHO in Burkina Faso, advising on epidemic prevention plans, surveillance, risk assessment and rapid response. Responsibilities

  • Advise on national strategies and plans for epidemic-prone disease prevention and control
  • Monitor early detection, verification, assessment and investigation of outbreak risks
  • Adapt and implement infectious-hazard policies, tools and control approaches
  • Prepare periodic reports and strengthen integration with national health information systems
  • Support rapid-response investigations, field risk assessments and early response
  • Ensure risk-communication messages are technically sound and culturally appropriate
  • Recommend measures to reduce excess morbidity and mortality
  • Provide technical assistance on vaccination, surveillance, infection control, water, sanitation and vector control

Requirements

  • First university degree in medicine, public health or a related field
  • At least five years of national professional experience in infectious-disease prevention and control
  • Experience with inter-agency health-emergency preparedness and response mechanisms
  • Expert knowledge of French
  • Nationality of Burkina Faso
