Job Description

Strengthens Nepal’s education-sector coordination and institutional systems as a UN Volunteer serving with UNICEF and the Ministry of Education and Sports. The advisor supports sector-plan implementation, knowledge management, stakeholder engagement, evidence use and capacity development across government levels.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Strengthen institutional systems, standard procedures and knowledge management
  • Support implementation and transition of the School Education Sector Plan
  • Coordinate communication among government, UNICEF, GPE and development partners
  • Support sector-wide approaches and federal, provincial and local coordination
  • Provide technical assistance on education governance and institutional capacity
  • Prepare briefings, reports and evidence for sector reviews and decisions
  • Promote transparency, accountability and data-informed planning

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education, Public Policy, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related field
  • At least three years of relevant professional or volunteer experience
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Experience in education or another social sector
  • Experience with government and multi-stakeholder coordination
  • Experience in sector planning or decentralised governance
  • International, multicultural or lower-middle-income-country experience
  • Knowledge of Nepal, South Asia or federal governance systems
  • Prior volunteering experience
  • Ability to use digital and artificial-intelligence tools
