Job Description

Provides expert advice on science diplomacy under UNESCO's Consolidating European Science Diplomacy (CUSP) project, supporting global-strand activities and events such as the Tech Diplomacy Forum. Contributes to developing an analytical framework, training needs assessment, and a science diplomacy policy observatory.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on science diplomacy for events, knowledge products and activities
  • Support conceptualization and production of outputs for the Tech Diplomacy Forum and Chief Science Advisor's Roundtable
  • Develop analytical framework and data-collection methodology for a global science diplomacy study
  • Design and disseminate a training needs assessment survey and compile findings into a report
  • Contribute to design of an integrated science diplomacy policy observatory on the GOSPIN platform
  • Develop plans and background materials for a regional policy dialogue at CILAC 2026 in Brazil

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in natural sciences, basic sciences, science policy, International Relations, Development studies or related discipline
  • At least 4 to 5 years relevant professional experience with progressive responsibility in natural sciences, basic sciences or science policy

Desired Criteria

  • Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in natural sciences, science policy or applied statistics/data science is desirable
