UNICEF seeks a national remote consultant in Bujumbura to develop a national strategy for professionalising and strengthening Burundi’s social-service workforce, addressing regulatory, training, certification, professional-standard, resourcing, staffing and career-development gaps identified by a recent workforce analysis.

Department: Child Protection

• Develop a national strategy to strengthen Burundi’s social-service workforce
• Structure priority interventions to professionalise social work
• Address regulatory, training and certification gaps
• Incorporate standards, resourcing and workforce-policy priorities
• Coordinate technical meetings and stakeholder workshops

• Master’s degree in social work, humanities, social sciences, public policy or an equivalent field
• At least five years of experience in social work or public-service reform
• Senior-level social-work experience related to child or social protection
• Experience developing national strategic documents
• Knowledge of Burundi’s protection context
• Fluent French and Kirundi
