Job Description

Leads communications, visibility and knowledge management for UNDP Kenya's solar-cooling project. The role converts technical evidence into accessible content, manages project channels and knowledge products, supports media and stakeholder events, and tracks communication results to strengthen awareness, investment and wider adoption of solar-powered cold storage.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the project communication and knowledge-management workplan
  • Maintain a communications calendar for activities, events, publications and milestones
  • Write and edit articles, case studies, briefs, newsletters, speeches and social content
  • Translate technical project information for farmers, policymakers, financiers and the public
  • Maintain repositories of reports, photographs, lessons and knowledge resources
  • Develop knowledge products supporting policy decisions, investment and scaling
  • Manage website and social-media content and support media engagement
  • Track communication results and prepare updates for UNDP and project partners

Role Requirements

  • Degree in communication, journalism, public relations, media studies, development communication, knowledge management or a related field
  • At least seven years of relevant professional experience in communications, journalism, public relations, development communication or knowledge management
  • Experience developing and implementing communication or knowledge-management plans
  • Ability to translate technical information for varied audiences
  • Willingness and ability to undertake periodic travel within Kenya
  • English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience communicating climate, renewable-energy, agriculture, food-system or sustainable-cooling projects
  • Experience on donor-funded or international-development programmes
  • Knowledge of behaviour-change communication, media relations or advocacy campaigns
  • Skills in photography, video production, graphic design, data visualisation or website content management
  • Experience using digital analytics tools
  • Portfolio of relevant writing, digital communication or knowledge products
