Aviation Officer

Supports UNHAS Madagascar to provide efficient humanitarian air services. The volunteer plans and coordinates aviation operations, works with airport and national authorities on approvals, analyses operational data and reporting, strengthens staff and partner capacity, and applies risk management and emergency preparedness so passenger, relief and evacuation services remain available in crises.

• Plan and coordinate safe aviation operations under WFP and UN aviation standards
• Support aviation projects using operational risk-management processes
• Liaise with airport authorities and external parties for approvals and documentation
• Collect and analyse aviation data to recommend performance improvements
• Review procedures and improve operational efficiency
• Prepare timely aviation reporting for management and donors
• Build staff and partner capacity for safe aviation operations
• Maintain emergency aviation preparedness for passenger, relief, medical and security evacuations

• Experience using aviation safety information systems
• Experience arranging flight clearances and immigration documentation
• Experience coordinating ramp activities with national aviation authorities
