Job Description

The Associate Data Specialist supports the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Libreville by developing databases, analytics and quality-control systems. The national officer cleans and analyses data, builds reports and visualizations for evidence-based decisions, improves data flows and infrastructure, and builds staff and partner capacity in data analytics.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop databases, data-collection systems, analytics and quality-control capabilities
  • Identify data sources and analyse trends in structured and unstructured information
  • Clean primary and secondary data and maintain quality-assured databases and data systems
  • Develop reports, dashboards and visualization outputs for management decision-making
  • Improve data processes, automation, delivery architecture and technical infrastructure
  • Build data-analytics capacity through trainings and workshops for UN personnel and national counterparts

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, applied mathematics, information management, data management, information systems, information science or a related quantitative field
  • A first-level university degree may be accepted with qualifying experience
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ability to perform quality assurance of data analysis outputs
  • English and French are required
  • Open to nationals of Gabon only

Desired Criteria

  • Experience assessing data accuracy and consistency through data validation
  • Experience in data storytelling and visualization tools
  • One year or more of data analytics or related experience
