Supports the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment Secretariat with programme coordination, technical analysis and documentation, helping prepare ministerial and Bureau meetings, follow up environmental decisions and strengthen UNEP’s assistance to African multilateral processes.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Prepare an inception report and workplan for the consultancy
- Draft environmental briefs, reports and policy notes
- Prepare agendas, summaries and outcomes for AMCEN meetings
- Coordinate preparation and follow-up for ministerial and Bureau sessions
- Support African countries in regional multilateral environmental processes
- Assist implementation of AMCEN decisions and initiatives
- Produce monthly progress reports
- Deliver a final report summarising outputs and recommendations
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in law, economics, international relations, engineering or a related field, or a relevant bachelor’s degree with two additional years of experience
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in environmental policy development and natural-resource or ecosystem management
- Fluency in English
Desired Criteria
- Completion of degree or non-degree study in data analytics or data science
- Knowledge of French
