Air Operations Assistant (Aviation Fire Marshal)

Provide aviation rescue and firefighting expertise for MINURSO airfields and landing sites in Laayoune. The consultant will oversee operational readiness, emergency response and fire-safety compliance; coordinate exercises and air-operations support; and strengthen procedures, equipment management and quality assurance in line with UN aviation standards and ICAO requirements.

• Manage aircraft rescue and firefighting operations at mission airfields and landing sites
• Maintain emergency-response readiness of vehicles, equipment, agents and communications systems
• Inspect firefighting facilities and conduct fire-safety and risk assessments
• Develop operating procedures and coordinate drills, accident simulations and emergency exercises
• Support aviation operations, audits, technical specifications and emergency planning

• High school diploma
• At least six years of progressively responsible experience in air transport emergency crash and rescue operations or related aviation safety
• Vocational certificate in aircraft rescue and firefighting or aviation emergency crash and rescue
• Fluency in oral and written English

• Experience in at least two related fields including air transport operations, airfields management, quality assurance, resource management or contract management
• Experience using ICAO standards and recommended practices
• Experience in UN peacekeeping or comparable remote, austere, desert or conflict-affected environments
• Knowledge of French
