Overview

Coordinates safe and efficient ramp operations for United Nations mission aircraft in Santo Domingo. The assistant dispatches crews, manages ground-handling and refuelling support, guides passengers, enforces ramp safety, maintains operational records and liaises with aviation and airport authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out ramp operations and enforce aircraft safety zones
  • Coordinate aircrew dispatch and ground-handling services
  • Check aviation notices and support safe aircraft refuelling
  • Guide passengers through boarding and disembarkation with movement-control staff
  • Inspect ground-support equipment and coordinate foreign-object-debris prevention
  • Record ramp activities and report incidents, near misses and damage
  • Coordinate flight arrivals and departures with the mission air-operations centre
  • Liaise with civil aviation, airport and military-police authorities

Requirements

  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • At least five years of progressively responsible air-transport operations experience, reduced to three years with a first-level university degree
  • Experience in ramp safety or aircraft ground-handling practices
  • English and Spanish at the required United Nations proficiency levels
