Job Description

Supports FAO investment operations by analysing agrifood value chains, investment constraints and private-sector opportunities. The role works with financial institutions, governments, donors and businesses to design country-level interventions, blended-finance solutions and policy dialogue that improve investment, market development and sustainable food-system transformation.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Analyse selected agrifood value chains with public, private and civil-society stakeholders
  • Assess investment constraints and opportunities across value chains, including support services, trade, policy, risk management and food-safety standards
  • Analyse policy issues and factors that crowd out private investment, and identify agribusiness solutions
  • Design country-level interventions and investments with international financial institutions, donors and local stakeholders
  • Analyse agrifinance gaps and develop de-risking and blended-finance solutions that improve access to finance
  • Develop analytical products and practical tools on agribusiness, marketing and value-chain development
  • Participate in public-private platforms and policy dialogue to strengthen conditions for investment along value chains

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in agriculture, agro-industry, business administration, agribusiness, economics, agricultural economics, finance or a closely related field
  • Five years of relevant experience in value-chain analysis and development, agribusiness and market development, processing, or agrifood investment operations in developing countries
  • Working knowledge of English and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language
