Responsibilities

  • Assess tourism demand, local supply, food-safety requirements, logistics and value-addition opportunities
  • Design market-diagnostic tools and stakeholder consultation methods
  • Guide national experts and service providers conducting consultations with buyers and producer groups
  • Develop commercially viable tourism-linked agrifood pilot models for Fiji and Cook Islands
  • Support pilot implementation, farmer readiness, buyer engagement and institutional market linkages
  • Facilitate national validation workshops and a regional learning workshop
  • Prepare country strategies and multi-year action plans for scaling successful market models

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural economics, rural development, food systems, tourism development, value-chain development or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant experience
  • At least five years of relevant experience in agrifood systems, value-chain development, market linkages, agritourism or rural enterprise development
  • Working knowledge of English at level C
