Overview

The expert will build community-based protection systems across five Palestine refugee camps by assessing risks and local mechanisms, establishing and training a volunteer network, supporting community-led action plans and developing a sustainable scale-up roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Assess community protection mechanisms, power dynamics, capacities and stakeholders across target camps
  • Facilitate participatory consultations and protection-risk analysis using age, gender and diversity principles
  • Establish and support a representative network of 50 community protection volunteers
  • Develop and deliver training on community-based protection, referrals, confidentiality and data protection
  • Facilitate five camp protection action plans and ten community-led protection activities
  • Prepare transition, scale-up and final reports documenting results, lessons and recommendations

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in social work, human rights, international law, social sciences, development studies, psychology, community development or a related field
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Ability to be based in Damascus for the assignment
