Summary of Responsibilities
- Develop an inception report covering methods, schedule, risks and report structure
- Apply the Sharks MOU prioritisation methodology and advisory matrix
- Assess species vulnerability and risk where data and resources permit
- Draft regional and subregional conservation priorities for sharks and rays
- Prepare regional species fact sheets for listed species
- Consult the Secretariat, Advisory Committee, signatories and SPREP
- Consolidate feedback into a final report with priority recommendations
- Recommend improvements for future prioritisation exercises
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in environmental science, marine biology or a related field, or a relevant bachelor’s degree with two additional years of experience
- Minimum two years of experience in conservation planning, project management and international conservation policy
- Substantial experience in shark and ray conservation
- Experience assessing shark and ray conservation needs and formulating international or regional measures
- Knowledge of Oceania conservation priorities and requirements
- Fluency in English

- Competence in other languages appropriate to the study area
