Overview

The Senior Accounting and Finance Assistant leads specialised finance and accounting support at ICTP. The role manages financial operations teams, ensures compliance with rules and accounting standards, supports closures, reporting, audits and asset-related financial controls.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounting and Treasury, Invoice Control and Travel teams
  • Interpret financial and administrative policies and provide guidance and technical training
  • Draft standard operating procedures and recommend internal process improvements
  • Maintain financial transaction records and advise on IPSAS application
  • Manage monthly and yearly financial closure processes, including voluntary contribution projects
  • Oversee payments, invoice verification, disbursements and commitments under applicable rules
  • Prepare ICTP financial statements and certified donor financial reports
  • Oversee independent audits, financial certification and financial recording of assets

Requirements

  • Completed secondary, technical or vocational school education
  • At least ten years of progressive experience in finance, accounting or budget management
  • Expert knowledge of IPSAS or IFRS and their application in a public-sector or international organisation context
  • Proficiency in SAP or a similar ERP system
  • Experience in financial closure processes and account reconciliation
  • Excellent English and Italian
